DESCRIPTION:Join the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office for a special evening to help educate parents and guardians on possible signs of drug and alcohol use by teens. The event replicates a teenager’s bedroom to allow parents to “snoop” and try to find indicators of drug use and hiding spots. Discover how alcohol and drugs can be easily hidden in a teenager’s bedroom and learn of ways to engage in proactive and healthy discussions to prevent risky behaviors. \n\n\nAlong with an interactive presentation on how spot signs of teen drug and alcohol use\, the event will include: \n\n\nGuest speaker Karleen Wolanin\, the founder of Virginia Fentanyl and Substance Awareness\nRapid ‘REVIVE!’ training for life-saving opioid overdose medication Naloxone (also known as Narcan)\nA meet-and-greet with service providers\n\n\n\nHenrico parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Fairfield Library at 1401 N. Laburnum Ave on Tuesday March 4th\, March 11th\, and March 18th as we tackle challenging topics for caregivers supporting older adults in Henrico. We will end the series with a Senior & Caregiver Expo on Tuesday\, March 25th at Eastern Henrico Recreation Center to learn about resources to assist older adults in our community. \nTuesday\, March 4th\, 6 pm-7 pm Dementia 101: A representative from the Alzheimer’s Association will share information about the stages of dementia\, resources for caregivers\, and take questions from community members. \nTuesday\, March 11th\, 6 pm-7 pm Supporting Your Loved One as Their Abilities Change: Lisa Isbell with Senior Care Authority of Central Virginia will share resources for individuals with varying levels of need and tips for recognizing changes in need and having difficult conversations about care. \nTuesday\, March 18th\, 6 pm-7 pm End of Life: A Representative from Crater Community Hospice will help caregivers understand the difference between hospice and palliative care\, and provide techniques for conversing about end-of-life with loved ones. \nContact the Advocate for the Aging with any questions or to learn more about the event at agingadvocate@henrico.gov or 804-501-5065. \n  \nDifficult Conversation Series
