DESCRIPTION:The Henrico County Police Animal Shelter will hold an adoption event Saturday\, August 15 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 10421 Woodman Road. \nDuring the month of August\, organizations across the country are encouraged to “Clear the Shelter\,” as part of an initiative founded 12 years ago by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and NBCUniversal Local. The county shelter is coordinating with community partners to host a local Clear the Shelter event to find loving homes for dogs\, cats\, rabbits and guinea pigs. Thanks to the Henrico Humane Society\, Furbish Thrift and the William A. Thanks to the sponsorships from Henrico Humane Society\, Furbish Thrift and the William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation\, any dogs who are already spayed or neutered are ready to go home with their new families the same day as adoption! \nPets who have not already been spayed or neutered will have additional fees for their procedures. The spay or neuter will be scheduled upon adoption and will be ready to go home with their families shortly after! \nThese events are wonderful opportunities for attendees to meet our pets in-person and to see who they connect with! \nAdopters must be 18 or older\, but are not required to be Henrico County residents. Adopters will need to have a valid photo ID and pay an adoption fee\, which varies upon the spay/neuter status of the pet. \nAll pets available for adoption can be viewed online on our PetFinder and AdoptaPet pages.

The event will include a variety of vendors highlighting children’s safety\, children’s activities and games\, and giveaways! You can also recycle old or damaged car seats and enter for a chance to win a new car seat. \nFACTS\nAccording to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)\, while most parents and caregivers are confident that they have correctly installed their child’s car seat\, almost half (46%) have been installed incorrectly. A properly used/installed car seat can reduce the risk of death for your child by 71%. \nWHAT TO BRING\nIf you plan to attend the event\, please bring the following items/individuals\, if possible: \n\nThe seats with accompanying manuals\nChild(ren) who will be using the seats\, if possible\nAny caregivers (ie. family members\, nannies/sitters) who transport the child(ren) in the seats so everyone can be helped and educated on proper use\n\nMORE INFORMATION\nThis event is currently scheduled rain or shine.
