DESCRIPTION:Henrico County Recreation and Parks is thrilled to invite you to our 2-day Juneteenth Celebration! \nOn Friday\, June 20\, we will host our first-ever Juneteenth Jamboree\, and you won’t want to miss it! \n5pm: Community Parade \n6:30pm: 7v7 Football Showdown \nThe community parade will travel from Baker Elementary School to Varina High School and will feature around 25 local businesses and organizations. \n \nFollowing the parade\, from 6:30-9pm\, we’ll have an epic 7v7 football showdown announced by Shawn Mears. The competition will be between Henrico County’s very own high schools: Varina\, Highland Springs\, J.R. Tucker\, Glen Allen\, Deep Run\, and Henrico! \n \nDJ Amare will be on the ones and twos\, keeping the vibes going strong. Plus\, we’ll have food trucks serving up delicious bites for you to enjoy. \n \n\nBono’s Caribbean (Caribbean Southern Fusion)\nPretty and Proud (Italian ice\, candy grapes\, cheesecakes)\nJay’s Carnival Foods (Fish\, chicken\, shrimp\, fries\, funnel cake\, fried Oreos\, water ice\, lemonade\, bottled water\, soda)\n\n\nBag and Chaperone Policy\nHCPS Clear and Small Bag Procedures will be implemented for the football showdown. \nEach spectator will be allowed to bring in the following: \n\n1 clear tote bag\, clear backpack\, OR clear resealable plastic bag\n1 small clutch purse and/or fanny pack for privacy (no larger than 5″ x 7″)\n\nIndividuals ages 17 & under must be accompanied by a chaperone over 21. DESCRIPTION:The Henrico County Police Division will host a Child Safety Seat Check-Up event on Saturday\, July 19\, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walmart (5001 Nine Mile Road\, Henrico\, VA 23223). \nWHO\nThis FREE event is an opportunity for Richmond metro-area residents to make sure their child’s car seat/booster seat is installed properly. Registration for this event is strongly encouraged for planning purposes. \nFACTS\nAccording to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)\, while most parents and caregivers are confident that they have correctly installed their child’s car seat\, almost half (46%) have been installed incorrectly. A properly used/installed car seat can reduce the risk of death for your child by 71%. \nWHAT TO BRING\nIf you plan to attend the event\, please bring the following items/individuals\, if possible: \n\nThe seats with accompanying manuals\n\n\nChild(ren) who will be using the seats\, if possible\n\n\nAny caregivers (ie. family members\, nannies/sitters) who transport the child(ren) in the seats so everyone can be helped and educated on proper use\n\nThis event is currently scheduled rain or shine. DESCRIPTION:The Henrico County Police Animal Protection Unit will hold its Rabies Clinic on August 16\, 2025\, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Western Government Complex (4301 E. Parham Road). \nRabies vaccinations are $20 each\, cash only! Cats must be in carriers. Pets from all localities are welcome. \nRegistration and payment are done first inside the Administration building at the Cashier’s office. You will then proceed to veterinarian on the first level of the parking deck adjacent to the Administration Building. \nHenrico County dog licenses will also be available. The lifetime license fee is $10. The license is for the life of the dog and is valid as long as the dog’s owner resides in the County and the dog’s rabies vaccination is kept current. The license is void if the dog does not receive a rabies vaccination within 30 days of the expiration of the dog’s current rabies vaccination. \nContact the Henrico Police Animal Shelter at 804-727-8801 (open Monday-Saturday\, 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.) with any further questions.

DESCRIPTION:The Henrico County Police Animal Shelter will hold an adoption event Saturday\, August 16 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 10421 Woodman Road\, Glen Allen\, VA 23060. \nDuring the month of August\, organizations across the country are encouraged to “Clear the Shelter\,” as part of an initiative founded 11 years ago by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and NBCUniversal Local. The county shelter is coordinating with community partners to host a local Clear the Shelter event to find loving homes for dogs\, cats\, rabbits and guinea pigs. Thanks to the Henrico Humane Society\, Furbish Thrift and the William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation\, many of our pets will be up to date on their vaccinations and spay/neuter procedures\, which means they will be ready to go home with their new families upon adoption.
