DESCRIPTION:The Henrico Police Animal Shelter is hosting an outdoor pop-up pet adoption event (rain or shine). Cats\, dogs\, rabbits and guinea pigs are looking for loving homes! \nCommunity members are invited to meet pets available for adoption and help future animals in need of care. Thanks to the sponsorships from Henrico Humane Society\, Furbish Thrift and the William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation\, any dogs who are already spayed or neutered are ready to go home with their adopters the same day with just a $10 adoption fee. \nPets who have not already been spayed or neutered will have additional fees for their procedures. The spay or neuter will be scheduled upon adoption and will be ready to go home with their families shortly after! \n“Every adoption is a double win for us; a pet goes home with their new family\, and we gain space to support incoming lost and stray animals” said shelter manager Pamela Bridgmon. “Over 100 shelter dogs have found homes as a result of these events in the past 11 months\, thanks to the community and our wonderful volunteers.” \nAdopters must be 18 or older\, but are not required to be Henrico County residents. Adopters will need to have a valid photo ID and pay an adoption fee\, which varies upon the spay/neuter status of the pet. \nAll pets available for adoption can be viewed online on our PetFinder and AdoptaPet pages.

DESCRIPTION:The Henrico County Police Division will host a Child Safety Seat Check-Up event on Saturday\, August 30\, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walmart (7901 Brook Road\, Henrico\, VA 23227). \nWHO\nThis FREE event is an opportunity for Richmond metro-area residents to make sure their child’s car seat/booster seat is installed properly. Registration for this event is strongly encouraged for planning purposes. \nFACTS\nAccording to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)\, while most parents and caregivers are confident that they have correctly installed their child’s car seat\, almost half (46%) have been installed incorrectly. A properly used/installed car seat can reduce the risk of death for your child by 71%. \nWHAT TO BRING\nIf you plan to attend the event\, please bring the following items/individuals\, if possible: \n\nThe seats with accompanying manuals\n\n\nChild(ren) who will be using the seats\, if possible\n\n\nAny caregivers (ie. family members\, nannies/sitters) who transport the child(ren) in the seats so everyone can be helped and educated on proper use\n\nThis event is currently scheduled rain or shine. In the event of severe inclement weather\, the event will be postponed to a later date. \nMORE INFORMATION\nIn the event there is a large number of vehicles waiting for the check-up\, Henrico Police does offer Child Safety Seat Check-Ups by appointment.
