SUMMARY:Sundays at the Shelter pet adoption
DESCRIPTION:The Henrico Police Animal Shelter is hosting an outdoor pet adoption event (rain or shine). Cats and dogs are looking for loving homes! \nCommunity members are invited to meet pets available for adoption and help future animals in need of care. Thanks to the sponsorships from Henrico Humane Society\, Furbish Thrift and the William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation\, any dogs who are already spayed or neutered are ready to go home with their new families the same day as adoption! \nPets who have not already been spayed or neutered will have additional fees for their procedures. The spay or neuter will be scheduled upon adoption and will be ready to go home with their families shortly after! \nThese events are wonderful opportunities for attendees to meet our pets in-person and to see who they connect with! \nAdopters must be 18 or older\, but are not required to be Henrico County residents. Adopters will need to have a valid photo ID and pay an adoption fee\, which varies upon the spay/neuter status of the pet. \nAll pets available for adoption can be viewed online on our PetFinder and AdoptaPet pages.

SUMMARY:Tree ID & Canopy Assessment - Osborne Landing & Clark Palmore House
DESCRIPTION:Join Capital Trees and Henrico County’s Sustainability Division to analyze our local tree canopy and inventory trees at parks across the County! \nTargeted towards Henrico County staff and summer interns\, this opportunity is also open to community members eager to contribute to local environmental efforts. Sign up here: CFengage | Tree Inventory and Canopy Assessments with Capital Trees and Henrico Co \n***These opportunities are intended for those volunteers and Henrico County summer interns who’ve attended one of the Tree Identification and Canopy Assessment Training Courses previously offered. SUMMARY:Tree ID & Canopy Assessment - Brook Road Neighborhood Park
Practice essential skills in tree and invasive species identification while assisting with site-specific canopy assessments and inventory work within Henrico County parks. This work supports the ongoing reforestation program and tree canopy expansion initiatives highlighted by both Henrico County and Capital Trees. This is a fantastic chance to play an active role in understanding and improving our greenspaces! \nWe will spend ~2.5 hours (8am-10:30am) for each session working in teams to assess and document the current overall condition of native species at multiple Henrico County Parks. If you have not completed the training course but would still like to participate\, please reach out to jesse@capitaltrees.org*** \nLocation(s) for Thursday\, July 30: \nBrook Road Neighborhood Park 7207 Brook Rd\, Richmond 23227
