SUMMARY:Clear the Shelter Pet Adoption Event
DESCRIPTION:The Henrico County Police Animal Shelter will hold an adoption event Saturday\, August 15 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 10421 Woodman Road. \nDuring the month of August\, organizations across the country are encouraged to “Clear the Shelter\,” as part of an initiative founded 12 years ago by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and NBCUniversal Local. The county shelter is coordinating with community partners to host a local Clear the Shelter event to find loving homes for dogs\, cats\, rabbits and guinea pigs. Thanks to the Henrico Humane Society\, Furbish Thrift and the William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation\, many of our pets will be up to date on their vaccinations and spay/neuter procedures\, which means they will be ready to go home with their new families upon adoption. Cumberland County Animal Control will also join the event with adoptable animals. \nFor those interested in adopting a pet:– Must be 18 or older– Bring a valid photo ID– Pay an adoption fee*Adopters do NOT have to be residents of Henrico County \nAll pets available for adoption can be found online on PetFinder. \nFor more information\, visit the shelter’s website or call the Henrico County Police Animal Shelter at 804-727-8807.

DESCRIPTION:The Henrico Bug Bizarre\, a community festival celebrating the joy and excitement of entomology\, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday\, Oct. 10 at the Deep Run Recreation Center\, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway. \nThe free event will feature live insects and other insect-related displays\, including hissing cockroaches\, tarantulas and a “bug zoo.” Experts will share information on a variety of subjects\, including pollinators\, garden insects\, forest pests and public health. All ages are welcome and the event will offer children’s activities. \nThe Henrico Bug Bizarre is being organized by the Henrico County Department of Public Works.
