Henrico submitted entries to the Virginia Association of Counties (VACo) awards competition. General government agencies won a combined two Achievement Awards from VACo, with one receiving the best Achievement Award. Henrico’s two awards were the second-most among Virginia counties. Overall, the awards competition recognized 40 programs from 103 entries submitted across the state.

Research shows ageism in healthcare contributes to poorer health outcomes for seniors. The training, Combating Ageism in Emergency Care was developed for emergency service providers to foster an understanding of how ageism impacts Henrico and the health outcomes of our residents, increase awareness of ageism in healthcare, explore myths about aging, and share practical strategies to support older adults in Henrico. Post-training survey results demonstrate the effectiveness of this innovative and replicable training.

Arrive Alive Henrico is a data‑driven safety initiative that analyzes crash trends, engages the community, and coordinates across agencies to reduce severe roadway injuries and fatalities. Supported by nearly $15 million in federal SS4A Implementation Funds awarded in December 2025, the program enables Henrico County to advance high‑impact safety projects and move swiftly from planning to implementation. It now serves as a strategic roadmap guiding targeted investments, multimodal improvements, and measurable progress toward long‑term crash‑reduction goals.
