Competency Restoration Services

 The Court Evaluation Unit coordinates and provides outpatient treatment services to defendants who have been adjudicated Incompetent to Stand Trial and who require outpatient treatment services to attempt to restore their competency to stand trial.  The Court Evaluation Unit accepts appointments from all Henrico Courts.  In addition, appointments from other jurisdictions, when the defendant is a resident of Henrico County (and has been released from jail) or when a defendant is being held in a Henrico County Jail, are accepted.  Competency Restoration Services are available in both jails operated by Henrico County as well as at all the mental health clinics operated by HAMHDS.  Competency Restoration Services include psychoeducational services about the court system, case coordination and referral, and post-restoration outcome evaluations.
