Cats and dogs are looking for loving homes! \nCommunity members are invited to meet pets available for adoption and help future animals in need of care. Thanks to the sponsorships from Henrico Humane Society\, Furbish Thrift and the William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation\, any dogs who are already spayed or neutered are ready to go home with their new families the same day as adoption! \nPets who have not already been spayed or neutered will have additional fees for their procedures. The spay or neuter will be scheduled upon adoption and will be ready to go home with their families shortly after! \nThese events are wonderful opportunities for attendees to meet our pets in-person and to see who they connect with! \nAdopters must be 18 or older\, but are not required to be Henrico County residents. Adopters will need to have a valid photo ID and pay an adoption fee\, which varies upon the spay/neuter status of the pet. \nAll pets available for adoption can be viewed online on our PetFinder and AdoptaPet pages.

The Proclamation went into effect in 1863\, but this news was purposefully withheld from enslaved people until the arrival of Union troops in Galveston Bay\, Texas on June 19\, 1865. Juneteenth marks our country’s second independence day. First flown in 2000\, the Juneteenth flag was designed by Ben Haith\, founder of the National Juneteenth Celebration. DESCRIPTION:This hands-on training will equip participants with essential skills in: \n\nTree identification\nInvasive species identification\nTree canopy assessment methods\nConducting tree inventories\nUsing GIS-based tools and software for field data collection and mapping\n\nParticipants will learn how geographic information systems (GIS) technology is used to document tree locations\, assess canopy coverage\, and collect environmental data that supports long-term planning and restoration efforts. Volunteers will gain practical experience using digital mapping and data collection tools commonly used in urban forestry and environmental conservation projects. \nDesigned for Henrico County staff and summer interns\, this opportunity is also open to community members interested in supporting local environmental and reforestation efforts. \nParticipants who complete the training will be eligible to sign up for future site-specific canopy assessment and inventory projects within Henrico County parks.
