Board of Supervisors
The Board of Supervisors has five members, one representing each of the County’s five magisterial districts: Brookland, Fairfield, Three Chopt, Tuckahoe and Varina. Supervisors are elected for four-year terms. The Board is the policy-making body of the County.

Building Inspections
Assures that all buildings, structures and related equipment are constructed, installed and maintained in compliance with the standards contained within the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and the Henrico County Code.

Capital Region Workforce Partnership
The Capital Region Workforce Development Board (CRWDB) is responsible for providing oversight and policy direction for the utilization of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds in the Capital Region, comprised of the jurisdictions of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, Powhatan, and Richmond City.

Circuit Court Clerk
The Clerk of Court serves as the recorder of deeds and probate judge, issues marriage licenses and fictitious names, judgments, and is the official court administrator for all civil and criminal court cases.

Circuit Court Judges Chambers
The Circuit Court has authority to try a full range of cases, both civil and criminal, jury and non-jury.

Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office
Represents the people of the Commonwealth in the court system in matters involving civil, criminal and juvenile activity.

Communications
Promotes general government activities, initiatives and programs. Services include news releases, media relations, photography, graphic design, video production, Henrico County Television (HCTV) and social media.

Community Corrections
Provides opportunity for nonviolent offenders to make restitution to the community and to victims.

Community Revitalization
Coordinates the Enterprise Zone, Federal Block Grant and Community Maintenance Code Enforcement programs to revitalize the County.

Serves as legal advisor to Henrico Government.

Emergency Communications
Henrico 911 Dispatchers are the lifeline between people in need and providing them with Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services. They are the first, first responder.

Emergency Management
Henrico Emergency Management (EM) is responsible for developing and coordinating a comprehensive framework for the County’s preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts for various emergencies. EM coordinates various training and education programs for County employees, as well as conducting outreach and support for the County’s residents and businesses.

Extension Office
Provides education, programs, and services on a variety of topics related to agriculture, lawn and garden, home economics and money management, and 4-H youth activities.

Provides services in the area of accounting, budgeting, business licensing, personal property and real estate assessment, and state income tax preparation and tax collection.

Provides fire prevention, education, suppression, emergency medical, and emergency preparedness services.

General Services
Provides a variety of services to all departments and agencies such as the design and construction of county owned buildings, security services and maintenance of Henrico government’s buildings and grounds.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
The Henrico County GIS Office coordinates and supports the use of geospatial technology within the County. The County’s GIS office provides the necessary hardware, software, databases, applications, and personnel to support the County’s geographic information management and analysis. GIS information is also important for public consumption and is available to serve the needs of our citizens.

The local health department is a collaboration between the state health department (VDH) and local government for the purpose of ensuring that mandated public health services are available locally. All services provided are focused on protecting the health and well-being of local citizens. Services include disease investigation and control, food service inspections and permitting, and access to vital records.

Henrico Sports and Entertainment Authority
The Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority is responsible for the county’s sports tourism program which brings in over $60M in economic impact annually as well as the management of Henrico’s public/private investments.

Henricopolis Soil and Water Conservation District is a subdivision of state government responsible for natural resource conservation.

Juvenile Detention Home
The philosophy of the Henrico County Juvenile Detention Home is to hold in secure custody or on Detention Outreach and Electronic Monitoring those juveniles who, by statutory criteria, require such restraint for either their own or the community’s protection.

Keep Henrico Beautiful offers County residents of all ages litter prevention and recycling programs, environmental education resources and volunteer opportunities.

The Henrico County Public Library system is comprised of nine locations and the Mobile Library Service. Our mission is to promote reading and lifelong learning, connect people with the information they need, and enrich community life.

Permit Center
The Permit Center is a "One Stop Shop" for residential permitting needs. Whether adding a deck, building a garage, or simply gathering information for a future project, the Permit Center staff are ready to be of assistance.

Planning
The Planning Department advises and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals on land use applications such as rezonings, provisional use permits, conditional use permits and variances and reviews all new development (subdivision, plans of development and administrative site plans) to ensure compliance with the county’s zoning.

The school system serves the families of Henrico County, Virginia, a diverse community of more than 320,000 which wraps west, north and east of the independent city and state capital of Richmond. HCPS is the sixth largest public school division in Virginia, and is comprised of 72 schools and program centers serving 50,000 students.
