January 16, 2024 at 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

County agencies are looking to fill dozens of positions!

Henrico will hold a job fair Tuesday, Jan. 16 to launch its “Build Your Career, Better Your Community” hiring campaign, which highlights the county’s comprehensive benefits package and the advantages of careers in public service.

The fair, which is free and open to all job seekers, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the administrative office of the Division of Recreation & Parks, 6800 Staples Mill Road. Henrico is looking to fill dozens of vacant positions, which are posted at henrico.us/services/jobs.

Among others, the following departments and agencies will have representatives at the job fair: the Division of Fire, Police Division, Sheriff’s Office, James River Juvenile Detention Center, Division of Recreation & Parks, Office of Elections & Voter Registration, Department of Public Works, Department of Public Utilities, Department of Emergency Management & Workplace Safety, Henrico County Public Library, Department of Emergency Communications, Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services, Department of Social Services, Internal Audit and Capital Region Workforce Partnership.

“Henrico County is an outstanding, fulfilling place to work because we are committed to attracting and retaining not only the best employees but those who thrive on public service,” said Yvette George, director of the Department of Human Resources. “Our salaries are competitive and have been enhanced significantly in recent years. We also provide opportunities for professional growth as well as health insurance and other optional benefits that many employers do not offer, such as paid parental leave and our program to help eligible employees with the costs of buying their first home.”

The “Build Your Career, Better Your Community” campaign highlights many benefits, beyond competitive salaries, that make Henrico a great place to work:

  • Leave benefits, including 13 paid holidays per year and 17 types of leave, such as annual, sick, parental, wellness, bereavement, civil, and family and medical leave;
  • Professional development opportunities, including the county’s Emerging Leaders and Leadership Henrico programs, tuition reimbursement and education leave;
  • Medical and voluntary benefits, including the choice of three point-of-service health care plans through Anthem Healthkeepers, three dental plans, flexible spending accounts, and life and disability insurance;
  • Retirement benefits, including the Virginia Retirement Plan, a 457 deferred compensation program, payment of unused annual and sick leave, and life insurance; and
  • Fitness and well-being services, which include access to wellness classes and exercise equipment, an employee health clinic and the Employee Assistance Program, which supports employees and their family members through challenging life events.
