Planning Department

The Henrico Planning Department is primarily responsible for land use regulations in the County. Planning staff can assist you with questions about new and existing development, from rezoning requests to variances.

*** PUBLIC HEARINGS UPDATE ***

• • The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing regarding amendments to the 2026 Comprehensive Plan and zoning ordinance related to data centers on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the County Government center at 4301 E. Parham Road. 
    • The proposed amendment and ordinance linked below are referred to as the “Alternate Proposal.”

      • Alternate Proposal Zoning Ordinance Amendment (Hyperlinked)
    • Prior versions of the amendment and ordinance were considered and recommended by the Planning Commission following an advertised public hearing on May 15, 2025. These prior versions are referred to as the “Original Proposal.” The Board of Supervisors deferred further consideration of the Original Proposal to the Board’s regular meeting on June 10, 2025. Those items, including a previously provided staff analysis are linked below.
