Henrico County has 46 playgrounds spread throughout the county parks. Several park playgrounds were replaced in FY18-19 (July 2018-June 2019) and several more are slated to be replaced over the next fiscal year (July 2019-June 2020).

Like anything, playgrounds have a limited lifespan, after which the equipment becomes a safety and maintenance issue. Our teams have evaluated these playgrounds to be approaching the end of their lifespan, and due for an upgrade to maintain safety.

Thank you to all who shared their feedback on these parks and playgrounds. We will be evaluating the feedback and taking it all into consideration before moving forward.

Park List & Playground Descriptions:

Pouncey Tract Park (4747 Pouncey Tract Rd)
Remove old wood structures. Replace with all-inclusive ramped playset, rubber surface and ADA mulch. Completed July 2020.

Hunton Community Center (11690 Old Washington Hwy)
Total replacement and add ADA mulch. Completed January 2020.

Osborne Park (9530 Osborne Tnpk)
Replace certain pieces (mix of wood and metal structures) and add rubber surface and ADA mulch. Completed February 2020.

Bethlehem Park (7107 Bunch St)
Replace metal structure and add more inclusive swings and ADA mulch. Completed February 2020.

Woodman Park/Navion (1700 Navion St)
Total replacement and add shade structure and ADA mulch. Completed January 2020.

Dogwood Park (7906 Dogwood Rd)
Replace certain structures and add ADA mulch. Complete.

Springfield Park (4600 Springfield Rd)
Replace old structures and add ADA mulch. Complete.

Deep Run Park (9900 Ridgefield Pkwy)
Add Merry-Go-Round with rubber surface at back of park. Completed March 2020. Replace equipment by the middle parking lot and add ADA mulch. (Larger playground areas were replaced last year.) Complete.

Laurel Recreation Area (10301 Hungary Springs Rd)
Replace certain structures and add ADA mulch. Not yet underway.

Short Pump Park (3401 Pump Rd)
Total replacement of the original play equipment, next to the athletic fields. Add ADA mulch. Completed March 2020.
