All employment applications for Henrico County General Government and Schools (including internships) must be submitted online. Follow these steps to start your career with us!
Getting Started
- Create your account.
- Ensure you have access to the email account used so we can contact you OR you can reset your password (in case you forget it!)
- Ensure your name is entered correctly in the right order, spelled correctly, and with proper capitalization- attention to detail matters when a hiring manager is screening.
- Review open positions and hit the “apply now” button in the top right corner on positions that suit your interests and skill sets.
- Upload supporting documents, such as a resume and cover letter, at the bottom of the Personal Information tab in your account.
Screening & Interviewing
- Once the position closes, the hiring manager or HR will screen the applications- evaluating each candidate’s application as it relates to the criteria in the posting.
- Keep in mind the screening process can sometimes take several weeks depending on the number of applicants received and the hiring team’s workload.
- Our system does not serve as a dashboard for the status of your application – only the top-qualified candidates will be contacted.
Reference Checks and Job Offer
- The top candidate will be expected to provide contact information for two professional references.
- Upon receipt of successful reference checks, Human Resources will reach out to the top candidate with a conditional offer of employment.
- Any conditions of employment (such as pre-employment background check or DMV record check) will be shared during the offer process.
Onboarding
- An offer letter and pre-employment condition information is sent via email along with first-day reporting instructions.
- New employee orientation for full-time and permanent part-time employees is held at our Training Center, 7701 E. Parham Road, from 8:00 to 12:00 p.m.
