The members of Henrico County’s next Board of Supervisors and School Board as well as its constitutional officers and Henricopolis directors have been sworn in to begin serving their terms on Jan. 1.
“Welcome, we all look forward to working with you and seeing you succeed as a group,” County Manager John A. Vithoulkas said at the conclusion of the Henrico County 2024 Investiture, which was held Dec. 15 at the Henrico Sports & Events Center.
Circuit Chief Judge John Marshall presided and administered the oaths of office to the 16 individuals elected to the local offices in the Nov. 7 general election.
In his welcome, Marshall said the individuals “will affirm their commitment to the Constitution of the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia. They will promise to execute their duties to the best of their abilities. In doing so, they will acknowledge the trust that the Henrico citizens have placed in them and in their leadership.”
Vithoulkas acknowledged the outgoing officials and credited the “tremendous stability, consistency and quality of leadership that” have allowed the county to “persevere in challenging times while also giving us the vision to recognize emerging opportunities.”
“It has encouraged us to build a better Henrico for all of our residents, and it has reminded us that we should never, never be satisfied with our successes or assume that our work is done,” he added.
The incoming officials “will dedicate their time, their energy and their passion to this county and its people,” Vithoulkas said. “They are placing themselves on the public stage, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for that service.”
