Church Road Safety and Mobility Improvements

Henrico County  is evaluated Church Road from John Rolfe Parkway to west of Lauderdale Drive.   Public input was sought on reconfiguring the existing 4 lane undivided roadway to improve safety and mobility for all users.  

A virtual public information meeting and online comment period was available from November 13 through November 25, 2020. We received 426 responses via online survey and email. The responses provided feedback on the safety needs for the corridor, as well as three conceptual options for consideration.  The user feedback showed that 76% of respondents felt the current roadway did not adequately address safety concerns. Crosswalks were desired by 71% of respondents and 58% would like the addition of bicycle lanes. The dual bike lanes with median conceptual option was supported by 71% of the respondents.
