Lake Overton Wet Pond Retrofit and Dam Safety Improvements

The County of Henrico will retrofit the Lake Overton facility to a wet pond facility that will provide water quality improvements for the community. Included in this retrofit are dam safety improvements to the embankment. Future improvements include a trail connection to the Three Lakes Park trail system.  The following improvements will be constructed, including:

• A sediment forebay
• Shoreline erosion protection
• Aquatic benches
• Aeration fountain
• Wooden retaining wall
• New principal and auxiliary spillway
• Dam embankment repairs
• Forest mitigation plantings

Estimated Schedule: (Month Year)

• Design is completed.
• Right-of-way acquisition is completed.
• Advertisement for construction is completed.
• Utility coordination is anticipated to be completed in early May 2024
• Construction is anticipated to begin May 2024

Progress to Date

• Tree felling occurred between March 18th and March 29th.
