Lake Overton Wet Pond Retrofit and Dam Safety Improvements

The County of Henrico will retrofit the Lake Overton facility to a wet pond facility that will provide water quality improvements for the community. Included in this retrofit are dam safety improvements to the embankment. Future improvements include a trail connection to the Three Lakes Park trail system.  The following improvements will be constructed, including: 

• ​​A sediment forebay 
• ​Shoreline erosion protection 
• ​Aquatic benches 
• ​Aeration fountain 
• ​Wooden retaining wall 
• ​New principal and auxiliary spillway 
• ​Dam embankment repairs 
• ​Forest mitigation plantings​ 

Estimated Schedule: (Month Year) 

• Design is completed. 
• Right-of-way acquisition is completed. 
• Advertisement for construction is completed. 
• Utility coordination is anticipated to be completed in early ​May 2024​. 
• Construction is anticipated to begin ​May 2024​.
