Short Pump Town Center Virtual Design Charrette
Project Status: Study
Magisterial District: Three Chopt
HELP PLAN YOUR COMMUNITY’S FUTURE!
WHAT IS A CHARRETTE? A charrette is an intensive planning session where citizens, designers and others collaborate on a vision for development. It provides a forum for ideas and offers the unique advantage of giving immediate feedback to the designers. More importantly, it allows everyone who participates to be a mutual author of the plan. You can explore previous charrettes conducted by the county by following this link: Public Design Charrettes webpage
Because of current health safety requirements, this charrette is being conducted virtually to allow for greater community participation. While the community may be physically isolated, stakeholders can still work together through the virtual charrette, where meetings, presentations, and interactive design sessions will be held through a combination of online platforms.
WHAT IS THE STUDY AREA? The study area generally includes Short Pump Town Center and associated outparcels along West Broad Street.
HOW DID THE COMMUNITY PARTICIPATE? There will be multiple opportunities for the public to contribute:
- Charette Kick-Off and Hands-On Design Session
Monday February 22 | Beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Join the team for an informative presentation on planning and community development. Following the presentation, collaborate virtually with your neighbors and share your vision for the future of the study area.
- Open Design Studio
Tuesday February 23 through Thursday February 25 |5:00 p.m. to 6: 00 p.m.
Join the online studio to talk with the design team to provide input as the plan evolves. This will be a unique opportunity to provide feedback as the initial plan ideas are being developed.
- Work-In-Progress Presentation
Friday February 26 | 6:30 p.m.
See all of the work completed during the charrette week and the draft ideas for the study area’s future at the virtual “wrap-up” presentation.
