Youth & Family Support Partner (FSP) Services
We offer FSP Family Support Partner services to caregivers of youth who would benefit from the guidance and support of an individual with their own lived experience. Our FSPs are certified through the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. They receive the same training as a Peer Recovery Specialist, but with added preparation pertinent to families and youth. A FSP has their own personal experience caring for a child who has special needs, disabilities, or mental illness. A FSP has navigated the “system of care” for youth; they use their experience to help families going through similar challenges with a child. The Family Support Partner focuses on the needs of the caregiver and promotes health, self-care, recovery, resilience and, wellness for the entire family. They assist the caregiver in building and enhancing natural supports.
