The mission of Emergency Management & Workplace Safety (EMWS) is to create and foster a safe, sound, and prepared public environment for residents, visitors, contractors, and employees. This is achieved by developing and maintaining a culture of safety and preparedness for everyone.
EMWS meets its objectives by supporting compliance to the Virginia Occupational Safety & Health Standards, the Department of Environmental Quality regulations, and by coordinating emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation for all natural and manmade emergencies. EMWS also coordinates various training and education programs for First Responders and other County employees. Additionally, EMWS conducts ongoing outreach and support for Henrico’s citizens and businesses.
