Customers can access range of land-management services with online platform
Henrico residents and the development community now can use the web to apply for construction permits, request inspections and conduct other business as the county advances the implementation of an online land-management solution.
Build Henrico launched in February with an online reporting system for zoning code enforcement and neighborhood concerns, such as potholes and properties with tall grass and weeds. Its second phase, now available, incorporates services related to permitting and building inspections. The enterprise project is targeted for completion in 2022 with the addition of a section for development plans.
With the introduction of the section on permitting and building inspections, Build Henrico enables customers to apply for, amend and check the status of building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and other permits; estimate and pay fees; schedule construction inspections; obtain certificates of occupancy; and access other services. Builders and other users will maintain a personal account through a customer portal to manage their activities.
The new section includes a help page with training videos, guidance documents with step-by-step instructions and other resources to assist customers as they create an account and navigate features on the site.
A page with contact information and descriptions of the areas of responsibility for key county agencies — including the Permit Center and departments of Community Revitalization, Planning and Building Inspections — also is available to offer additional support for the site’s users.
Build Henrico is designed to transform the way the county interacts with the public and conducts business with its customers, updating a process that historically has required in-person visits to county offices and relied on paper transactions to a web-based system.
