Francistown Road at Hungary Creek Middle School – Temporary Roundabout

Magisterial District:   Brookland  

The County of Henrico is proposing to convert the intersection of Francistown Road and Shimmering Ln/Hungary Creek Middle School’s access into a temporary roundabout. If effective, a permanent roundabout will be constructed in the future. A summary of the work involved is listed below:

• Roadway restriping (and eradication of existing pavement markings).
• Installation of durable white and yellow delineators to channelize traffic and outline the roundabout central island.
• Installation of new curb ramps, crosswalks, and splitter islands
• Relocation of the existing, marked crosswalk to the north according to standard roundabout design.
• New curb ramps will be installed in line with new crosswalk. Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons will be reinstalled.

Estimated Schedule: (Month Year)

• Design began January 2024
• No right-of-way acquisition is proposed.
• No Utility relocation is proposed.
• Construction is anticipated to begin in April 2024

• A ​Public Information Meeting​ was held on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the ​Hungary Creek Middle School​ from 5:30PM to 7:00PM. A copy of the presentation is available below.
