Henrico County is urging residents to limit their water use and remain patient as high demand is leading to temporary gaps in the county’s supplies of bottled water.
Officials are asking residents who need water to use tanker trucks that are stationed at the Eastern Government Center, 3820 Nine Mile Road, the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center, 1440 N. Laburnum Ave.; and the Henrico Sports & Events Center, 1 All Star Boulevard. Water from the trucks is available 24 hours a day. Residents must bring their own containers.
The county has limited supplies of bottled water at those locations and at Brookland Middle School, 9200 Lydell Dr.; J.R. Tucker High School, 2910 N. Parham Road; and Wilder Middle School, 6900 Wilkinson Road. Due to strong demand, availability of bottled water may be intermittent while supplies are replenished.
In addition, showers and bathroom facilities are available 24 hours a day at the Sports & Events Center and at the three schools from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until further notice. The accommodations are available to support residents impacted by the water service outage in central and eastern Henrico.
Henrico has issued a precautionary countywide boil water advisory. Residents, businesses and other users are advised to boil their tap water before consuming it or using it in food preparation. Under the guidance of the Virginia Department of Health, tap water can be used safely for hand washing and bathing without first boiling it. Bathers should avoid getting water in their mouths or swallowing it. Additional precautions should be taken for those with open wounds.
