Permit/License – Automatic Weapons

Applications must be obtained from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The Police Division only assists by conducting a local investigation. Additionally, §18.2-295 of Code of Virginia, as amended, requires every machine gun in the Commonwealth to be registered with the Department of State Police within 24 hours after its acquisition.
