Fuzz Buddy Program
Sometimes when officers respond to calls for service, they encounter a young child or children who may be frightened, alone, confused, and/or injured. These children need comforting, and often a new stuffed animal or cuddly “Fuzz Buddy” may help comfort the child or children until familiar family members arrive. For years, Henrico County Police Officers have been distributing Fuzz Buddies, which are stowed in the trunks of their police vehicles, to children in need. Community groups and organizations have been donating stuffed animals and toys to our Fuzz Buddy Program for many years. These generous donations help us maintain a seemingly endless supply of stuffed toys or animals to distribute when needed.

How to Receive this Service
If your community group or organization wants to contribute to this program, we have established the following guidelines to help your group or organization in its collection of stuffed toys for our Fuzz Buddy Program.
-
-
All stuffed animals or toy must be new. We do not accept used items even if they are gently used.
-
All stuffed animals or toys should have original tags and packaging.
-
All stuffed animals or toys should be no larger than 12 inches – soft and cuddly is a plus!
-
Please place each stuffed animal or toy in a clear, zipper-style plastic bag or in a clear, sealed package that keeps the toy from getting soiled while in the trunks of officers’ vehicles.
-
Please call the Prevention Services Unit at (804) 501-4838 before planning your collection event or if you need more information. We can let you know how many stuffed animals or toys we need (if any) and where to drop them off after you’ve collected them.
