The VA250 Mobile Museum Experience, “Out of Many, One,” will visit Dorey Park in Henrico County from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 20 and from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 21 to share with the community Virginia’s foundational role in the birth of the nation. The high-tech, interactive museum on wheels will be open throughout the weekend to coincide with events included in Henrico’s annual celebration of Juneteenth.
The Mobile Museum is designed to celebrate the nation’s 250th year in 2026 and encourage reflection on the ongoing pursuit of a “more perfect Union,” as articulated in the preamble to the U.S. Constitution.
Visitors will explore the pivotal events, groundbreaking ideas and diverse individuals who shaped America in its earliest days. As the birthplace of America, Virginia holds essential stories, and this museum is sharing them with communities across the commonwealth by offering exhibits that are engaging, free and suited for all ages.
Henrico has its own compelling ties to the American Revolution. In 1776, the county’s representatives were instrumental in the decision to seek separation from British rule. Later, even amid wartime occupation, the spirit of Henrico’s residents remained strong. Henrico’s representatives played a part in the crucial debates surrounding the adoption of the U.S. Constitution.
Prepare to be inspired by the powerful stories of courage and determination that unfolded right here in Henrico,” said Julian Charity, division director of History, Heritage & Natural Resources for the Division of Recreation & Parks. “These exhibits offer a fantastic opportunity for all ages to discover the rich history that surrounds us. When you visit Dorey Park, the impressive Mobile Museum will be waiting to transport you back in time. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!”
Recreation & Parks will also present the travelling exhibit, “Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation,” through June 30. This exhibit will be displayed at recreation centers throughout the county, including the Dorey Park Recreation Center concurrently with the Mobile Museum from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
