Flu Immunizations

  • From CDC’s Flu Website: Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine every season with rare exceptions.
  • Vaccination is particularly important for people who are at higher risk of serious complications from influenza.
  • Flu vaccination has important benefits.
    • It can reduce flu illnesses, visits to doctor’s offices, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as make symptoms less severe and reduce flu-related hospitalizations and deaths in people who get vaccinated but still get sick.
    • Trivalent flu vaccines protect against three different influenza viruses.

Covid Immunizations

  • People aged 6 months and older can receive the 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccines based on individual-based decision-making with a healthcare provider. This includes pharmacists.
  • Other professional organizations have published their COVID-19 recommendations that differ from CDC’s recommendations. These organizations include:
  • People interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine should talk to a healthcare provider. 
  • Read the Virginia Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine FAQs.
  • The COVID-19 vaccine helps protect you from severe disease, hospitalization, and death.
  • It is especially important to get your 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccine if you are ages 65 and older or are at high risk for severe COVID-19.
  • Vaccine protection decreases over time, so it is important to stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccine.

RSV Immunizations

General Information from CDC:

  • Respiratory syncytial (sin-SISH-uhl) virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms.
  • Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious. Infants and older adults are more likely to develop severe RSV and need hospitalization.
  • Vaccines are available to protect older adults from severe RSV.
  • Vaccines for pregnant people or monoclonal antibody products are available to protect infants and young children from severe RSV.

The VVFA program provides adult immunizations through the utilization of providers located in underserved areas.

Mpox

Richmond and Henrico Health Districts are offering mpox vaccinations to individuals who live, work, or spend time in Richmond and Henrico and are at higher risk of exposure or serious illness.
