The County of Henrico Sign and Pavement Marking Shop is responsible for many tasks in the County.
- The fabrication, installation and maintenance of all signs along County maintained roads.
- The application and maintenance of pavement markings of all County maintained roads.
- The marking of County intersections for crosswalks and stop bars as well as school messages, railroad or other special messages applied to road surfaces.
The Pavement Marking Section is responsible for installing and maintaining all pavement markings on County maintained roadways. These markings are installed by either paint, self-adhesive tape, or preformed thermoplastic. The type of material used is dependent on the pavement type, age of the pavement, and the weather. The County operates a paint striping truck to install the long lines on County roadways and uses portable pavement tape applicators or heat to install the intersection markings.
