Henrico County Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15- October 15)
National Hispanic American Heritage Month, also known as Hispanic Heritage Month, has been observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 as a national holiday since 1988. We continue to honor and recognize the important contributions, diverse cultures and inseparable history of individuals whose lineage is connected to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Henrico Libraries
Henrico County Public Library is looking forward to commemorating the occasion with a variety of programs. We invite you to learn about local Latino history, play games with family, enjoy films, cook, craft, and more. Of course, we also encourage you to explore our collection for titles that highlight the culture, history, and impact of the Hispanic and Latino community.

Hispanic Heritage Month Speaker
During the Henrico County Board of Supervisors Meeting on Tuesday, September 22, resident Yuriko Ota (pictured on the far right), a native of Peru, graduate of My Henrico Academy and founder of the Silk and Sol bakery in Glen Allen, said she is grateful to be part of the Henrico community.
“I have seen how powerful it is when people can share their heritage and feel that their culture is genuinely welcomed,” she said. Ms. Ota was invited to bring comments during the board meeting in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
