Best Products headquarters – minus iconic eagles – approved for demolition, setting stage for potential arena-anchored development

The work at 1400 Best Plaza Drive is expected to occur through much of 2026 and explicitly will exclude the prominent pair of eagle statues, “with the intent that they will be ultimately preserved, either onsite as part of the new development or elsewhere,” according to the Henrico Economic Development Authority. Community invited to workshop on future of Best Products Reimagined site, Brook Road corridor

“The four-day design charrette is a wonderful opportunity for residents, property owners and other stakeholders to brainstorm and explore ways to shape the future of their neighborhoods and community,” Planning Director Joe Emerson said. “It’s an ideal time to go through this immersive exercise for this area of central Henrico, because there's potential for significant redevelopment and reinvestment in the next few years.”

Magellan’s extension and I-95 bridge will expand access, opportunity to Best Products site, Level Green development

“This vast property is being transformed, revitalized, supercharged and reimagined as we speak. The critical pieces are locking into place. Momentum is building, and the key players are engaged,” said Henrico County Board of Supervisors Chair Roscoe D. Cooper III.

With construction equipment staged nearby, officials and guests celebrated the start of the project along a portion of Scott Road that will be improved and realigned as part of Magellan’s extension.

Fairfield’s Roscoe Cooper III to lead Henrico Board of Supervisors in 2026

In outlining his priorities for the year, Cooper said Henrico will continue to support investments in education as well as affordable homeownership, pedestrian safety and economic development.

“I’m filled with both excitement and humility, and a sense of duty as we embark on this journey together, continuing our collective efforts to make Henrico County an even better place to live, work, play and visit, and raise your family,” he said.

Henrico Chief of Staff/Deputy County Manager Cari Tretina selected to lead Economic Development Authority

Tretina has served as Henrico’s chief of staff since 2019 and in an expanded capacity that includes deputy county manager since 2022. Among her accomplishments for Henrico, she has collaborated with EDA on dozens of agreements and initiatives to attract jobs and investment to Henrico, while also enhancing business opportunities and livability in the county.

EDA is responsible for attracting business growth and investment in Henrico, which has more than 353,000 residents, 25,000 businesses and 200,000 jobs. Henrico releases ‘request for interest’ for arena-anchored mixed-use development at Best Products Reimagined site 

The Henrico Economic Development Authority issued a “request for interest” (RFI) solicitation for a mixed-use development on property that once served as headquarters for the retail chain Best Products, along interstates 95 and 295 and East Parham Road. Master developers, arena operators and other prospective partners will have until Monday, July 28, to respond formally with submissions of a “statement of interest” in the development.
