Sustainability Division

The Henrico County Sustainability Division focuses on enhancing and maintaining the natural and built environments in a way that balances ecological systems and the needs of future generations.

Our programs and activities aim to improve the quality of life and well-being of all in our community by taking new approaches to County efforts that emphasize environmental sustainability. We also aim to provide resources and support to community members, businesses, and organizations as they improve their environmental sustainability activities.

Virginia Styrofoam Ban

The Sustainability Division is responsible for the administration of the Virginia General Assembly expanded polystyrene (EPS), Styrofoam, food container ban in Henrico County.

Reforestation

Trees play a vital role in maintaining a healthy planet. Since 2024, HEART has championed tree planting and reforestation activities for Henrico County and Henrico County Public Schools.
