Henrico County Climate Action and Adaptation Strategy
Henrico kicked off a climate action strategy project in fall 2025. The project will include local strategies and actions for the County to do its part to mitigate climate change, adapt to the impacts, and enhance community resilience. These will include county-controlled recommendations and community-focused recommendations.
Outreach is expected to begin in early 2026 and will include community meetings and a survey. You can sign up for the HEART newsletter to be sure you hear about these opportunities to have your voice heard.
PlanRVA Air Quality Plan and Climate Action Plan
As a member of PlanRVA, Henrico collaborates with local governments in the region to address pollution reduction. PlanRVA received a grant form the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop a Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) and subsequent Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP), with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.
Approved in spring 2024, the PCAP consisted of broad-based priority areas. Completed in winter 2025, the CCAP consists of a regional emissions inventory and long-term emissions reduction actions for all sectors of the local economy.
