Get ready to hear a youthful voice!

H.E.A.R.T. is very excited to welcome the high school Youth Council to the team! Nine Henrico County Public Schools high schoolers have been selected to represent their fellow classmates and add their own energy to the committee.

The introductory Youth Council meeting was held at the Glen Allen Branch Library, where students learned about Henrico County’s sustainability efforts and its goals. The Youth Council members shared their enthusiasm for protecting the environment and expressed excitement to have an important role to play in the conservation of our natural resources.

The Youth Council will be working directly with H.E.A.R.T. in planning and implementing community projects, such as stream cleanups and reforestation programs. They will also have an opportunity to learn about the operations of county government while gaining valuable jobs skills.

Through this new partnership with Henrico County Public Schools, students will receive externship and volunteer credit hours as well as be able to have a positive impact on the future of Henrico. We can’t wait to see what they will achieve!
