Summer Stream Cleanups

Calling all environmental enthusiasts! Looking for a way to get involved in the community during the warm summer months? Well, we have just the thing for you! Henrico’s Environmental Action Resource Team is reaching out to eco-minded members of the community to create connections while improving the environment.

In the past 6 weeks, HEART gathered nearly 50 volunteers at the Henrico County Training Center, Dorey Park and Woodman Park to tidy up Henrico County’s aquatic ecosystems. Many hands made light work as kids, county employees, adults, and environmental groups joined together to make our community a cleaner, greener place. Taking care of the environment requires all of us to work together toward a collective goal! So far, volunteers have managed to clean up over 5,000 linear feet of our beloved Henrico streams.

HEART is working to create volunteer opportunities throughout different areas of the county, so keep an eye out for where you might be best suited to jump in and lend a hand. You can receive updates regarding future volunteer events of all sorts by signing up for our bimonthly newsletter on the HEART website.

Thank you to all of our stream cleanup volunteers, and HEART looks forward to seeing the rest of you in action shortly.

Go green!
