Henrico County is temporarily waiving fees for residential use of its public-use areas as trash collection gradually returns to normal following the recent winter storm.
Henrico residents may drop off their household waste at the Springfield Road Public Use Area, 10600 Fords Country Lane, and the Charles City Road Public Use Area, 2075 Charles City Road. The normal fee of $3 per vehicle per trip will be waived through Sunday, Feb. 22. Information is available at henrico.gov/services/public-use-areas-for-disposal/.
The Department of Public Utilities continues to work to return residential trash collection to its normal schedule, as road clearing and melting continue to improve driving conditions on neighborhood streets.
On Wednesday, Feb. 4, crews are working to collect trash at homes that are usually serviced on Wednesdays. Similarly, on Thursday, Feb. 5 and Friday, Feb. 6, crews will collect on routes that typically occur on Thursdays and Fridays.
Other routes that could not be collected due to the impacts of the Jan. 24-25 storm are expected to be serviced through the weekend. Residents are encouraged to keep their carts by the curb or road’s edge. All county recycling facilities remain open.
