Cheswick Park is now open.  

Cheswick Park was in need of renovation and upgrades, which have been funded by the 2016 Bond Referendum. The capital projects team, park services, and an engineering design team recommended and are implementing the following park improvements:

• • Replacement of open grid paver parking lot with full-depth asphalt (40 existing spaces)
  • Replacement of timber curbs with concrete curbs and gutter
  • Stormwater management improvements
  • Improvements to the entrance at Forest Avenue
  • Replacement of park signage at Forest Ave
  • Restroom building renovation plus installation of a family restroom.
  • New playground equipment and playground surfacing (convert mulch to rubberized surfacing)
  • Pedestrian bridge improvements
  • Repair or replace the vehicle crossing at the stream
  • Trail surface improvements
  • Development of an open fitness area

Project Schedule

• Design Process started – September 2021
• Plan of Development/Construction Permitting – February 2022-October 2022
• POD/DPW Flood Plain Study completed – October 2022
• Advertise for Construction Bids – October 2022
• Approved POD and Construction Permit – November 2022
• John K. George & Company Construction, notice to proceed – February 21, 2023
• Onsite construction begins – Late February 2023
• Contractor duration – 330 calendar days
• Park Closed – February 28, 2023
• Anticipated project completion – January 17, 2024
• Park re-opens – Late January 2024
