Project Description
The County of Henrico will be constructing the following improvements:
- A 1.9-mile section of Sadler Road between Dominion Boulevard and Cedar Forest Road will be widened and the alignment improved.
- The roadway will consist of two lanes, one in each direction with a center left turn lane, curb and gutter, and improved drainage.
- A shared use path for pedestrians and bicyclists will be constructed on the east side of the new roadway.
- The segment between Ireland Lane and Sadler Grove Road will be on a new alignment.
- Roundabouts are proposed at the intersections of Sadler Road and Innslake Drive, and at Sadler Road and Sadler Grove Road.
Estimated Schedule

- Construction is underway.
Detour Information
Portions of Sadler Road are closed to through traffic until the project is completed in summer 2027. All traffic is detoured around the closures using Cox Road. The individual closure phases are:
- Between Sadler Green Place and Willow Gate Drive (July 1 – Sept. 14)
- Between Willow Gate Drive and the entrance to the Sadler Crest subdivision (Sept. 14 – early winter 2026)
- Between the entrance to the Sadler Crest subdivision to Sadler Court Road (Early winter 2026 – Summer 2027)
