We are thrilled to share that the Henrico County Division of Fire’s Civilian Fire Academy is now accepting applications! This program offers a unique opportunity to explore the Henrico County Division of Fire and showcase the dedication and courage of its firefighters.
This nine-week program starts on October 9, 2025, and ends with a graduation ceremony on December 11 at 6:30 p.m. It’s open to all, but participants must be 18 or older to register. Celebrate this milestone with family and friends!
Throughout the program, you will engage in classroom instruction and hands-on training led by our passionate Henrico firefighters. You will discover the vital workings of Henrico County’s emergency medical services and fire ground operations. In the Henrico Civilian Fire Academy, you will have the chance to:
- Explore a fire engine
- Operate a fire hose
- Wear turnout gear
- Ride on the fire boat
- Use vehicle extrication tools
- Operate thermal imaging cameras
- Participate in hazardous materials demonstrations
- Learn rescue methods
- Understand how the Division of Fire prepares for local and county-wide emergencies.
