The Henrico County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension has three opportunities in September and October where youth and families can visit the Virginia 4-H Mobile Life Sciences Learning Lab.
The lab is a 43-foot trailer made up of six stations highlighting professions related to science, healthcare, animal science and nutrition. In a series of “Pathways to Possibilities” workshops, visitors will have the chance to learn as they explore the interactive stations. They will compare the digestive systems of cows and chickens, take a virtual tour of Virginia’s river ecosystem and learn about the brain’s functions.
The Virginia 4-H Mobile Life Sciences Learning Lab opened in 2025 and has made visits throughout the state. This will be its first time in Henrico.
All three “Pathways to Possibilities” workshops are free and will take place at Dorey Park & Recreation Center, at 2999 Darbytown Road.
- “Pathways to Possibilities” Workshop (no registration required): Saturday, Sept. 26, 9 a.m.-noon. The event is open to the public. Visitors may drop in anytime.
- “Pathways to Possibilities” Workshop (homeschool families & registration required): Monday, Oct. 5, 1-2 p.m. Register by Tuesday, Sept. 29.
- “Pathways to Possibilities” Workshop (registration required): Tuesday, Oct. 6, 6-7:30 p.m. Register by Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Through educational programs, like 4-H Youth Development, Henrico Extension aims to improve the lives of the community.
