1775: Subject or Citizen?

Title 1775: Subject or Citizen with a graphic of two soldiers.

It’s 1775, and time to decide: Do you remain subject to the King or forge a new path as an independent citizen? While you ponder your path, you’ll get to talk many individuals to get their perspectives and experience period activities. Live musket firing demonstrations at 2:00 and 3:00pm.

Roving first-person interpreters:

  • Virginia’s Last Royal Governor, Lord Dunmore
  • Patrick Henry
  • Anne Harrison Randolph, of Wilton
  • London, enslaved young man (“owned” by the Quaker Pleasants family)

Reenactors:

  • Soldiers from the British 64th Regiment on Foot
  • Children from the Youth Virginia Regiment will be portraying Patriot militia
  • Soldiers from 7th Virginia
  • Tea merchant
