Cyclocross (CX)

Starts at 9:30 AM with races until 3:00 p.m. Registration is required. Visit THR Cycling’s website.

What’s cyclocross? Arguably the most engaging and potentially goofiest form of bike racing, especially from a spectator’s point of view. CX racers make several loops on a winding course with various terrain and obstacles. Since the racers aren’t going all that fast, it’s a tradition for spectators to heckle them and give them “hand ups”, easily grabbable snacks or drinks or money.

• Dentwood Coffee Co. will be serving their HenBIKEo roast for purchase until 12:00 p.m.
• Waffles on Wheels will be serving food for purchase until 12:00 p.m.

HenBIKEo Main Event

12:00–5:00 p.m. Feature many activities for all cycling ages, interests, and abilities:

• Group rides to the event:
  • Black Girls Do Bike: road ride (meeting time and location TBD)
  • Outpost Richmond: adventure ride (meeting time and location TBD)
• Satellite parking so you can ride your bike to the event!
  • Locations TBD
• Bike Valet parking at the event.
• Vendor Expo featuring local cycling businesses, organizations, and non-profits, as well as bike shops with demo bikes.
• Signed beginner, intermediate, and advanced mountain biking trails.
• Hourly mountain biking clinics and informational cycling classes.
  • Clinics require registration prior to the event. Visit All In MTB’s website to register.
• Kids cycling stations provided by WeeWheel.
• Gold Sprints: Stationary bike trainer races provided by Richmond Cycling Corps and hosted by Blue Ridge Cyclery.
• Bike Beauty Pageant featuring local fabricators. Vote for your favorite in the following categories:
  • Wildest Paint Job
  • Best Custom Build
  • Scariest Frankenbike
• Cycling Through the Ages display: Check out vintage bicycles and learn about the progression of cycling.
• Community art project from discarded bike parts.
• Live recording of The Wheel Community podcast featuring a panel of Henrico County employees and regional partners, discussing pedestrian use and infrastructure improvements.
• Live music by Table Gravy.
• Food for purchase.
