Henrico to offer resources for older residents at drive-through event Nov. 5

Henrico residents ages 60 and older can pick up free grab bags stocked with information from community organizations, personal protective equipment and giveaway items at a drive-through resource fair planned for 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center, 1440 N. Laburnum Ave.

Sara Morris, Henrico’s advocate for the aging, noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the programs that typically are available for the area’s older residents.

“This has been a year of constant change, and many community organizations and county agencies have adapted the services they provide,” Morris said. “The drive-through fair is an opportunity for our residents to get the most up-to-date information about these programs and also receive some PPE, health resources and useful giveaways.”

The contactless event will include information and materials from eight vendors as well as COVID-19 care kits with reusable face coverings and hand sanitizer. Participants will remain in their vehicles and are encouraged to wear a face covering.
