Board to hold special meeting Thursday for reapportionment vote

The Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, in the Government Center Board Room, 4301 E. Parham Road, to vote on a reapportionment plan for the county’s magisterial districts.

The meeting is open to the public; individuals who attend are required to wear a face covering. The meeting also can be viewed via livestream on the county website and on the WebEx platform. Links are available at https://henrico.gov/supervisors/next-meeting/.

The public will not be able to provide comments at the special meeting. The Board held public hearings to receive comments on a proposed reapportionment plan at its regular meetings on Nov. 30 and Dec. 14. The Board deferred a vote on a plan following the Dec. 14 public hearing.

Reapportionment will adjust the county’s population among the magisterial districts in an effort to ensure equal representation across the county, in accordance with state and federal law. The once-a-decade process sets district lines for the election of members of the Board of Supervisors and School Board.
