The Henrico County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on the proposed $1.4 billion budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year Tuesday, March 24, prior to its regular meeting. The Board is scheduled to vote to adopt the budget Tuesday, April 14. The budget would take effect for the year beginning July 1.
Community members can still send comments regarding the budget to the county manager or any member of the Board of Supervisors. The proposed budget is available on the county website. Updates and additional information is available through HenricoNews.
April proclaimed as Keep Henrico Beautiful Month

Tuckahoe District Supervisor Jody K. Rogish presented a proclamation on behalf of the Board recognizing April as Keep Henrico Beautiful Month, encouraging Henrico residents to show their environmental stewardship by recycling, picking up litter and through other efforts.
The Keep Henrico Beautiful Committee works to enhance environmental quality countywide through a variety of educational initiatives and community programs. Keep Henrico Beautiful is seeking nominations for this year’s Land Lover and Clean Business Awards program, which recognize properties that are beautifully landscaped and highlight sustainable practices.
Contract awarded for new Social Services building

Hourigan Construction will provide construction management for a new building for the Department of Social Services, which has outgrown its current space in the county’s Human Services Building on Dixon Powers Drive.
The two-story, $22 million brick building will encompass nearly 40,000 square feet and rise on the Henrico County Government Center campus, near Dixon Powers and East Parham Road. An opening in early 2028 is planned. Some functions of Social Services will remain in the Human Services Building.
Recreation and Parks to improve facilities and sports fields
The Board approved annual contracts for professional architectural and engineering services for Recreation and Parks projects, including updates to restroom and shelter facilities, sports fields, trails systems, parking lots, landscape architectural elements, park master plans and other facility rehabilitation improvements.
Dewberry Engineers Inc., GordonUS LLC and Vanasse Hagen Brustlin Inc. were awarded the contracts, which will not exceed $2.5 million for any single project or $10 million for a one-year term.
Drainage and flood mitigation approved
The Board authorized the acquisition of 2301 Homeview Drive for $56,300 for drainage and flood mitigation. The purchase is part of a countywide effort to address flood-prone and drainage-impaired properties. Henrico voters approved funding for the initiative in the 2022 bond referendum.
Contract awarded to construct new sewage pumping station
The Board approved a contract for $23.9 million for the W. M. Schlosser Co. to construct the Westwood Sewage Pumping Station beginning in June. Funding to support the project will be provided by Public Utilities’ water and sewer revenue fund. The project is expected to be completed by fall 2028.
Contract awarded to replace Mary Street sewer
The Board approved a $2.5 million contract to Muller Inc. for the Mary Street sewer replacement project. Approximately 3,000 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer main will be replaced along Mary Street. Work is anticipated to begin in May and be completed in about a year.
Contract awarded to construct Fall Line Trail – Villa Park
The Board awarded a contract for $6.5 million to Sagres Construction Corp. for the Villa Park phase of the Fall Line Trail. The project will construct a shared use path approximately 1.1 miles long and 12 feet wide extending from the intersection of Lakeside Avenue and Brook Road to East Parham Road and Villa Park Drive. Work will include installation of ADA compliant ramps and new storm sewer and stormwater management facilities. Work is anticipated to begin in April and be completed in about 13 months.
