Henrico County libraries, parks, recreation centers, public-use areas and courts closed effective noon today due to the threat of severe weather, which includes the potential for damaging winds and tornadoes. In addition, offices of Social Services and Mental Health & Developmental Services will close at 1 p.m.
Trash collection will be suspended at 2 p.m. Service will resume Tuesday and include any missed collections from today.
Henrico opened its Emergency Operations Center at 10 a.m. to monitor weather conditions and any potential response. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for areas of southeast Virginia, including Henrico, with a moderate risk for severe thunderstorms, including the potential for damaging winds and tornadoes today through this evening.
The public is asked to call 911 only for emergencies and the Police Division’s nonemergency number 804-501-5000 for other health and safety needs.
The driver’s license ceremony scheduled for this evening has been postponed to 5 p.m. Monday, March 23 in the Board Room of the Henrico County Government Center, 4301 E. Parham Road.
