Residents are invited to celebrate the nation’s milestone birthday with live music, activities and glowing finales at two parks
July 4, 2026, signifies the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which also makes it the 250th birthday of the United States of America. With the nation celebrating a quarter millennium of existence, Henrico County could not confine its celebrations to a single day or park.

On Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, the Division of Recreation & Parks will present A Henrico Fourth, two evenings of free, family-friendly events. On July 3, the community is invited to celebrate with a concert and fireworks from 6-10 p.m. at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. On July 4, the public will be able to enjoy a classic performance by the Richmond Symphony, as well as a laser light show and traditional Independence Day celebration from 5-10 p.m. at Crump Park, 3400 Mountain Road.
At both events, the Henrico Federal Credit Union is sponsoring a hot air balloon display. Parking and admission are free, and food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Please note: These festivities are intended to be welcoming and fun for everyone. Individuals, families and groups are encouraged to attend. All children and teens should remain accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian.
Friday, July 3: Dorey Park
On the first night of A Henrico Fourth, 5Starr will kick off the music at 6 p.m. with a high-energy performance featuring popular hits. Then, fan favorite Plunky & the Oneness will undoubtedly bring good vibes to the park. And no Independence Day celebration would be complete without fireworks and a laser light show. Guests must be inside the park to experience them.
Gates and food vendors will open at 5 p.m. In case of an emergency, event alerts will be sent via text message. To receive alerts, text Dorey250 to 888-777.
Saturday, July 4: Crump Park
The second night of A Henrico Fourth will bring many familiar elements and some exciting new faces to Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park. JTucker & The Krewe, a 10-piece powerhouse band, will open the evening at 5 p.m. with their fusion of funk, soul and jazz. The sound will then transform to a place where country, blues and bluegrass converge, with Justin Golden & Devil’s Coattails at 6:45 p.m.
The evening will culminate with a performance by the Richmond Symphony, accompanied by Desirée Roots and the Goochland Virginia and Vicinity Chapter of the Gospel Workshop of America, beginning at 8 p.m. Conductor Naima Burrs will lead the performance as the symphony presents a selection of patriotic and America-themed pieces.
The evening will conclude with a laser light show beginning around 9:30 p.m. Designed for noise-sensitive guests, including the park’s farm animals, the show will not include fireworks.
A kids zone and history area will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Activities will include bounce houses, inflatables, face painting, a photo booth, balloon animals and Uncle Sam roaming on stilts.
In celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary, the event will feature a variety of demonstrations and interpreters in the history area. Firing demonstrations will be conducted at 6 and 7 p.m. to show the loading and firing procedures for Revolutionary War weaponry. In addition, the event will include a Revolutionary War surgical display, a blacksmith demonstration and a performance by Signora Bella, who is known as “The Great Italian Equilibrist.” The Farmhouse and Parsons Community Center will be open, sharing insight into the history of Henrico.
