Get Ready to Recycle!

Exciting news if you choose to reuse! The rollout of the 95-gallon recycling carts to Henrico County homes has begun! Henrico County residents no longer have to limit their recycled materials to fit inside a 24-gallon handheld bin. All of the carts will be delivered by June 30, and then everyone will be free to recycle as they please! Residents are welcome to keep their bins for uses other than recycling. If you’d rather return your bin to be recycled, the county has established four drop-off locations (watch video).

In the meantime, let’s review which materials can be recycled. Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) accepts aluminum and steel cans, mixed paper and cardboard, plastic bottles, containers and tubs, food and beverage cartons, food and beverage glass bottles and jars. Play an active part in the protection of our environment by keeping an eye out for these items in your homes.

If you haven’t used your bin in the past, now is the perfect opportunity to try out a new skill and use your new cart. Recycling reduces waste in our landfills and pollution in our environment. Think before you use, then choose to reuse!
