N Laburnum Avenue Pedestrian and Transit Improvements

The County of Henrico will be constructing the following improvements along the eastern side of N Laburnum Avenue between Harvie Elementary School and previous Henrico County Fairfield Library: 

• Approximately 2,250 linear feet of 5’ wide sidewalk, curb ramps and crosswalks.  
• Approximately 900 linear feet of new curb and gutter and storm drainage system. 
• Lane widening of approximately 9’ to match adjacent pavement widths in some locations, a wooden bridge to avoid extending two box culverts.  
• Improvements to two bus stops that could include shelters and other amenities.  
• Ten dedicated park and ride spaces will be identified in the parking lot of the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center. 

Estimated Schedule: 

• Design is underway. 
• Right-of-way acquisition began 3rd Quarter, 2025. 
• Utility relocation is anticipated to begin 2nd Quarter, 2026. 
• Advertisement for construction is anticipated 2027. 
• Construction is anticipated to begin 2027.
