Project Description
Henrico County has partnered with Sun Tribe Solar to design and install a rooftop solar system at Libbie Mill Library consisting of over 300 solar panels. Sun Tribe Solar will install, operate, and maintain the system at no cost to the county, and sell the solar electricity back to Henrico County at a reduced rate compared to grid electricity. Over the next 25 years, Libbie Mill Library is estimated to save over $150,000 for Henrico taxpayers while harnessing approximately a quarter of its electricity from its new 122 kiloWatt solar system.
Progress to Date
A contract was awarded to Sun Tribe Solar in May 2019, and system design began. Installation began in early September 2019, and the system was fully installed and operational in December 2019.
