Assumed and Fictitious Names (Business Names)
In PersonAs of January 1, 2020, pursuant to Virginia Code Section 59.1-69, certificate of assumed or fictitious names shall be filed in the Office of the Clerk of the State Corporation Commission.
Dissolution of a Business Name
This form is to be used by a person who is releasing an assumed or a fictitious name that is of record in a Virginia circuit court. File a completed form in the clerk’s office of the appropriate circuit court.

The cost to file a Dissolution of a Business name is $10.00. Payment may be made by cash, check/money order (payable to Clerk, Henrico Circuit Court) or credit card. There is a 2% credit card transaction fee.
If an additional copy is requested, there is a copy fee of $0.50 per page. If a certified copy is requested, there is a certified fee of $2.00 per document. If you file by mail, you must enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of your copy or certified copy.
